I'm looking at digging up some old CDs and installing from them which seems to be working so far but needs the no CD patch(as well as plenty of other patches and DS installed separately) to be entirely practical on newer machines that don't even have a CD drive built in. still not a total solution but if you're good with it that's great. I'm pretty bad at computer-y things in general, so if you try the machine.cfg fix please let me know how it goes! I'm not really sure what. It runs fine now, I just can't run C3 standalone. I created a shortcut to the engine on my desktop and used the gog docking station icon (same folder) to make it look like it normally did. I ran the engine of docking station, which did run fine (I don't remember screwing with it too much, if at all), and C3 was connected to it somehow. regardless maybe this may be useful information for others, i certainly wish i'd found it sooner.Īt this point I'm not sure all of what I did, but I went into one of the gog files (probably in programs files with the number). but it's possible the file may of stuck around and caused some mayhem. I'm not sure if this will fix the problems i encountered as i uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times from different sources in different locations and gog's directory listings where active even when i had uninstalled their version ans used another. this brings up a list of directories written in a pretty simple lines of text and they just need to be edited to point to the right folders. I'm reading that one of the possible answers to some of the registry errors that sometimes come up in the gog version is to find the file named machine.cfg located in the game's folder and open it with notepad. it seems the gog version sets something in the operating systems directories to permanently associate C3 with the gog folder which i haven't figured out how to fix. It looks like there's a way to download the original version from Amazon though, but looks like even after uninstalling the gog version it leaves things behind that might cause problems. Gog galaxy and their version of the installer seems somewhat incompatible with how the game is designed to work as far as i can tell, as does windows 10 to a degree and i'm just practically bashing my head into the wall trying to fix it. I use to play a long time ago and decided to return when i saw the game on Gog games, and it kind of worked for a day or two but was more buggy than it should be but now i can't seem to get it to work at all. Never mind, I wrecked everything and got it to work. Mine says "GOG Galaxy" instead of "GOG Games", and I'm not huge on computers, should I change the names? Does it matter? (The space between the : and the \ is to prevent the emoji ahah) Make sure the configuration file entry is correct! NLE0002: The following directory doesn't exist:Ĭ: \GOG Games\Creatures Exodus\Creatures 3\ I tried to run C3 and got this:Įrror in: DirectoryManager::ReadFromConfigurationFiles I tried to run docking station but it says that C3 isn't installed. So I bought Creatures again after losing my installer from my old hard drive, and I installed them off GOG Galaxy. Downloads gallery dev community creatchi forum mycaves
